In protest against the grenade attack at the residence of former Cabinet Minister Manoharjan Kalia, BJP leaders staged a demonstration against the AAP government.

Kapurthala, April 8 (Kaur) – In protest against the grenade attack on the residence of former Cabinet Minister and BJP National Executive Member, Manoharjan Kalia, BJP leaders staged a strong demonstration on Mall Road in the heritage city. The protest was organized against the Punjab government, with loud slogans raised against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.Addressing the protestors, BJP District President Ranjit Singh Khojewal stated that the grenade attack on senior BJP leader Manoharjan Kalia’s residence in Jalandhar was a significant example of the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab. He further emphasized that the attack in Jalandhar, one of Punjab’s most important cities, clearly indicated that even the cities in Punjab were no longer safe.Khojewal mentioned that since the AAP government came to power in Punjab, the law and order situation has been continuously worsening. He cited various incidents, such as the attack on the Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters in May 2022, the attack on Kali Mata Mandir in Patiala in April 2022, the series of bomb explosions near Harmandir Sahib in May 2023, and the grenade attack on a Hindu temple in Khundwala, Amritsar in March 2025. These incidents highlighted the AAP government’s failure to maintain law and order.He further criticized the AAP government’s focus on providing Z+ security to Delhi leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, Vaibhav Kumar, and others while ignoring the security needs of Punjab’s citizens. He pointed out that the police forces, instead of focusing on maintaining law and order, were more engaged in monitoring opposition parties such as Congress, Akali Dal, and BJP.Khojewal also expressed his shock at the inability of Punjab Police, once known for eradicating terrorism, to ensure the safety of their own police stations. He mentioned several police stations and check posts, including Ajnala Police Station, Amritsar’s Police Chowki, Gurbaksh Nagar Police Chowki, and many others, that have been targeted by attacks.He further added that the root cause of these issues lies in the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, whose use of Punjab Police for political purposes has undermined the security and law enforcement in the state.
