Kapurthala, April 8 (Kaura) – While speaking with journalists, Jathedar Jugraj Pal Singh Sahi, senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party from Talwandi Chaudhrian, strongly welcomed the decision to withdraw the charge from the B.D.P.O. of Sultanpur Lodhi, who was a former writer, and return him to his previous role as a writer. Jathedar Sahi stated that the decision, though delayed, was the right one made by the Punjab government. He also demanded a thorough investigation into the alleged corruption committed by Avtar Singh, the former B.D.P.O., and called for a vigilance inquiry to be initiated.
Jathedar Sahi further mentioned that the issue of bribery by the B.D.P.O. had been raised in the Punjab Assembly, but no action had been taken at that time. He emphasized that the action was long overdue. Sahi also shared a personal experience, stating that the B.D.P.O. had demanded a bribe of 50,000 rupees from him for constructing a 50-foot pathway leading to his house. He mentioned that the Panchayat of Noorpur had passed the proposal, which was then also approved by the D.D.P.O. in Kapurthala. However, the B.D.P.O. had insisted on the bribe to facilitate the construction.
Sahi further added that a week ago, he had met with the B.D.P.O. to address the issue and warned him that if the work wasn’t completed, he would file a complaint with his high command. The B.D.P.O. reportedly responded by stating that it was his high command that had instructed him to collect money, and he was free to lodge a complaint wherever he wanted.
Jathedar Sahi concluded by alleging that the B.D.P.O. had taken large sums of money in Noorpur village and made illegal encroachments on people’s private lands by constructing walls, and that a high-level inquiry should be conducted into these activities.
