Bassi Pathana, April 8 (Uday Dheeman): Dr. Harbans Lal, former Punjab Minister and President of the “Ha’a Da Na’ara Chetna Manch Punjab,” along with other prominent leaders, has announced the celebration of the 34th Foundation Day of Fatehgarh Sahib District. The event will be held on April 13, the day of Vaisakhi, in front of the State Bank of India (Sirhind City), near the Shiv Mandir ground.
Dr. Harbans Lal, during a media interaction, shared the historical context of the district’s formation. He mentioned that when he first became a legislator in 1992, he raised the question in the Punjab Legislative Assembly about making Fatehgarh Sahib a district. After discussions, the then Central Railway Minister, Ravneet Singh Bittu, and the late Chief Minister Beant Singh announced the creation of the district on Vaisakhi. Subsequently, on April 13, the then Union Home Minister S. B. Chauhan laid the foundation stone for the district.
Furthermore, the people of Jakhwali Nagar shared that after Fatehgarh Sahib was made a district, Dr. Harbans Lal, during his tenure as a legislator and minister, worked to convert Khera into a block and Bassi Pathana into a tehsil. Additionally, he facilitated funds for the development of roads connecting villages and towns in the district, along with various other developmental works.
On this occasion, Dr. Harbans Lal assigned duties to his workers for the 34th Foundation Day celebrations.
