Kapoorthala, 7th April (Kaur) – The renowned institution dedicated to literature, culture, and art the Srijna Center Kapoorthala (Regd.) held an election for a new committee according to its rules. The election took place at the center’s office at Virsa Vihar. Following the completion of their two-year term, the President, International Poet Kanwar Iqbal Singh, and General Secretary, Poet Shahibaz Khan, made an appeal for the election of the new team. In response, members gathered at the center’s office and shared their thoughts regarding the election of the new team.
Shahibaz Khan, the General Secretary, presented a report on the activities of the center from 2023 to 2025, mentioning various events such as face-to-face gatherings book release events, ghazal workshops, award ceremonies, book discussions, and deliberations. After the first team was dissolved the members and office-bearers present at the meeting unanimously selected a seven-member election committee to decide the new team. The committee members included Dr. Surinderpal Singh, Roshan Khera (State Awardee), Dr. Ram Murti, Surjeet Sajan, Rana Saidowalia, Dr. Harpreet Singh Hundal, and Avtar Singh Gill.
Considering the excellent performance of the previous team, it was decided by majority vote that the well-regarded poet Kanwar Iqbal Singh would be re-elected as President, and Shahibaz Khan would continue as General Secretary for the next two years. All members expressed their agreement with this decision, and the new team was announced.
On this occasion, President Kanwar Iqbal Singh assured everyone that his team would strive to continue the smooth running of the center’s activities and elevate its reputation further. General Secretary Shahibaz Khan emphasized the importance of the responsibility and assured that the team would work towards enhancing the literary stature of the center and expanding its scope.
The event was attended by Chan Momi, Principal Sarwan Singh Pardeasi, Malkeet Singh Meet, Ashu Kumra, Lali Kartarpuri, Rattan Singh Sandhu (retired Food and Supply Officer), Jaswant Singh “Khadoor Sahib”, Tejbir Singh, Dr. Anurag Sharma, Gurdeep Gill, Manjinder Kamal, Balveer Kaur, Jaspreet Singh Dhinjan, Sant Singh Sandhu, Anmol Singh, and Keval Singh Rattara, Satnam Kaur, Ravi Sahota (Panchayat Officer Naddala), Sukhdeep Singh Deep, and others.
It was also decided that the announcement of the new executive committee would be made shortly. Finally, the newly elected President Kanwar Iqbal Singh and General Secretary Shahibaz Khan thanked everyone for their support.
