Gidderbaha / Sri Muktsar Sahib, 7th April Under the leadership of Shri Abhijeet Kaplish, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Program Coordinator (MGNREGA), a one-day training session for the field staff was conducted today in Gidderbaha block. The training was organized by Shri Surinder Singh Dhillon, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development), Shri Mandeep Singh, Service Provider, and District Nodal Officer (MGNREGA).
The training session focused on educating the MGNREGA field staff and Panchayat Secretaries about the works to be carried out under the MGNREGA scheme in the Gidderbaha block. The primary aim of the MGNREGA scheme is to ensure that the benefits reach even the poorest families.
To implement the scheme effectively and provide 100 days of employment to rural families, Employment Day will be organized on the last Friday of every month at the Gram Panchayat level. The main objective of this initiative is to inform the public about the benefits of the scheme.
At the conclusion of the training, a test was conducted for the participants.
Under the MGNREGA scheme, several development activities will be carried out in the year 2025-2026, including the construction of play grounds, parks, ponds (chhappar), shared water bodies (Amrit Sarovar), school boundary walls, tree planting, cleaning of ponds, libraries, and canal cleaning. Additionally, other developmental works are being carried out in convergence with other departments under the MGNREGA scheme.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the Block Development and Panchayat Officers to ensure that the materials purchased with grants received from the Finance Commission and other funds from the Punjab State and Government of India meet high standards and quality. He also directed that meetings should be held at the block level with the firms supplying materials to the villages to ensure that the materials provided meet the required quality standards. If any firm fails to comply, legal action will be initiated by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) -cum- Additional District Program Coordinator (MGNREGA).
