Bathinda, August 15 (S.S. Rahi): On the occasion of Independence Day, the Bathinda unit of the **Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust** celebrated by distributing **pension cheques to the needy** at its local office in Bathinda. Under the initiative, the Bathinda team distributed monthly cheques to around **278 underprivileged individuals**, including **destitute widows**, **physically and mentally challenged individuals**, and **patients suffering from serious illnesses**. These welfare efforts are carried out under the dynamic leadership of **Dr. S.P. Oberoi**, Managing Trustee of the Sarbat Da Bhala Trust, along with national president **Jassa Singh Sandhu**, **Dr. R.S. Atwal**, **Dr. D.S. Gill**, and as per the guidelines of the **Director of Health Services**.Today, the cheque distribution was carried out by the Bathinda unit team, including **President Prof. Jaswant Singh Brar**, **General Secretary Amarjeet Singh**, **Treasurer Baldev Singh Chahal**, **Padam Sen Garg**, **Manojar Gurtej Singh Sidhu**, **Pritam Singh**, **Surjit Singh (Chief Manager)**, and **Gurpiyar Singh**, who all actively served during the event.
Prof. Jaswant Singh Brar highlighted various welfare activities undertaken by the trust, such as:
* Monthly pensions for the needy
* Medical pensions for patients in need
* Free computer education
* Free tailoring and embroidery training
* Free eye surgery camps
* Free medical camps
* Free blood group testing for students in government schools
* Affordable medical tests through **Sunny Oberoi Clinical Laboratories** in **Talwandi Sabo, Maur Mandi, Baliwali, Chauke, Mehraj, Mandi Kalan, Diona**, and **Bathinda**
* Donation of **RO (Reverse Osmosis)** water purifiers to institutions in need of clean drinking water
These initiatives reflect the trust’s strong commitment to social welfare and upliftment of the underprivileged.
