Set to Challenge Current Finance Minister
Bathinda/Nathana, 5th December (Ram Singh Kalyan)
Workers working as motivators under the government’s water supply and sanitation department have announced a protest in Ludhiana on the 10th of December. This decision was made after the failure of the department to respond to their demands.
Union press secretary Jagjeet Singh, district press secretary Ram Sarup Singh, and Sikandar Singh informed that the Minister of Water Supply and Sanitation, Hardeep Singh Mundia, had promised to formulate a water policy on the 19th of November, and had asked for 10 days. However, in a meeting held on December 3rd, the department’s officials did not provide any concrete answers to the workers, which has led to frustration among them.
Bathinda district leaders have stated that the motivators from Bathinda will actively participate in the December 10th protest to pressure the government into fulfilling their demands. They expressed their intent to participate vigorously in the protest at Ludhiana-Chandigarh, challenging the department’s continued inaction and delay tactics.
Ongoing Protests Against Water Supply and Sanitation Department
The motivator union has also announced a protest against the ongoing delay in the formulation of a water policy. Provincial Secretary Ranveer Ravi Kulriyan and Satnam Singh mentioned that despite Chief Minister Punjab’s announcement on Lohri, the department has failed to prepare any policy. The workers have been continuously protesting against both the Chief Minister and the Minister due to the lack of progress. They hinted that there could be an undisclosed action plan on December 10th.
Finance Minister’s Past Support to Motivators
Motivators Mandeep Singh and Upinder Kumar from the Nathana block mentioned that the current Finance Minister, Harpal Singh Cheema, had personally supported motivators’ demands during a protest near Malerkotla under the Congress government. He had assured that the Congress government would fulfill their demands. However, since assuming office, Harpal Singh Cheema has remained silent on the matter, which has caused unrest among the motivators.
