Bathinda, 8th April (S. S. Rahi): Dr. Jagjeevan Kaur, the head of the Physical Education Department and Vice-Principal of the college, has been appointed as the Principal of Government College, Sri Muktsar Sahib, based on seniority and merit by the Punjab Government. This news is a source of great happiness for the Principal of Government Rajindra College, Bathinda, Dr. Jyotsna, the entire staff, current and former students, and the local community, including residents of Chakk Bakhtu and Kotha Guru.
Dr. Jagjeevan Kaur is a well-known name in the educational field. Over the last three decades, she has helped produce state, national, and international-level athletes, bringing recognition to both the state and the country. Many athletes trained by her have secured government jobs. Known for her nurturing approach, especially towards students, she has always treated them with the care and affection of a mother or elder sister. She has always prioritized the welfare of students and the college over her personal life, dedicating her mornings and evenings to train students.
Her husband, Shri Harnam Singh (Gagan Gondara) of Kotha Guru, a former student of Rajindra College, and other family members have supported her in balancing work, family, and responsibilities. Dr. Jagjeevan Kaur completed her schooling till the 10th grade in her village school, followed by a Bachelor’s degree from Government College for Women, Patiala. She then completed her M.A. (with a gold medal), M.Phil from the Government College of Physical Education, Patiala, and her doctorate from Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo.
Dr. Kaur hails from a prominent, socially active family with a rich heritage in agriculture, education, and social service. Her family members have always been supportive of her educational and career endeavors.
Her professional journey began in October 1995 when she joined Government Ranbir College, Sangrur. In October 1997, she moved to Government Rajindra College, Bathinda, where she worked for three decades in the Physical Education Department. With her recent promotion, she will assume the position of Principal at Government College, Sri Muktsar Sahib on 5th April 2025.
