Bathinda, April 8 (SS Rahi): In a joint statement, the Panch Pradhani Panthik Jathe has condemned the recent incidents in Punjab that have disrespected Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, who dedicated his life to fighting for the rights and dignity of the marginalized sections of society. The Jathe expressed that such incidents are shameful and appear to be part of a deliberate attempt to create divisions between the SC (Scheduled Caste) community and Sikhs.
The Panch Pradhani Panthik Jathe stated that the ruling establishment in Delhi has long been trying to divide the Dalits and Sikhs to serve their own political interests, weakening both communities. The recent incidents of disrespect towards Dr. Ambedkar are seen as part of this strategy to serve the interests of those in power in Delhi. They also emphasized that accusing Dr. Ambedkar, who played a crucial role in drafting the Indian Constitution, as a culprit or responsible for any wrongdoing is completely wrong, especially under Article 25, Clause 2-B, and any attempt to create division between Dalits and Sikhs through such allegations is harmful.
The statement further noted that Dr. Ambedkar dedicated his entire life to advocating for the rights of marginalized communities. During his life, he worked tirelessly on both intellectual and practical levels to uplift these communities. Dr. Ambedkar had good relations with Sikhs and even expressed a desire to convert to Sikhism, but due to the circumstances of the time, he could not. Instead, he embraced Buddhism after leaving Hinduism.
The joint statement also referred to the teachings of the Gurus, who have always stood for the protection of the weak and oppressed. Sikh Gurus have always supported the welfare of the marginalized, and their teachings are rooted in equality and justice, which are fundamental to the Khalsa’s mission. The movement for Khalistan is aligned with the ideals of Gurmat, which is based on equality, justice, and shared values for all, and not for the benefit of any particular community.
The Panch Pradhani Panthik Jathe has strongly condemned the linking of the Khalistan movement with the disrespect shown to Dr. Ambedkar. They warned against attempts to create rifts between Dalits and Sikhs under the guise of the Khalistan struggle and emphasized that the true basis of the Khalistan movement lies in service, remembrance, high moral character, and martyrdom, not in actions driven by financial interests.
In conclusion, the statement reminded that the Sikh community must avoid conflict with those trying to divide them from other marginalized groups. Instead, efforts should be made to foster unity and cooperation based on shared ideals and struggles.
