Kapurthala, 7 April (Kauda) – Under the Punjab government’s Punjab Education Revolution initiative, significant improvements have been made to the infrastructure of government schools. In this regard, various development works were inaugurated at the Government Elementary Smart School Channa Sher Singh and Government Senior Secondary School Channa Sher Singh, in the presence of District Education Officer Mamta Bajaj and Deputy District Education Officer Dr. Balwinder Singh Battu. The works were inaugurated by Sajjan Singh Chima, Chairman of the Lok Arpan Nagar Sudhaar Trust Kapurthala, and Arjan Awardee.
At the Senior Secondary School, a Science Lab was constructed with an investment of ₹11 lakh, and additional classrooms were built with a cost of ₹6.26 lakh. Additionally, at the Primary School, new classrooms were constructed at the cost of ₹7.51 lakh, and the school boundary wall was built at a cost of ₹4.50 lakh.
During the event, Sajjan Singh Chima thanked Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains for their efforts to transform schools in rural areas of Sultanpur Lodhi. He emphasized that these efforts would prove to be very beneficial for students. He stated that the Punjab government has prioritized education and health, which has greatly benefited the underprivileged sections of society. He also mentioned that with improvements in the basic infrastructure of schools, the quality of education has also improved, resulting in students from private schools now enrolling in government schools.
Chima highlighted that in the 2025-26 budget, the Punjab government has allocated 12% of the budget to the education sector, reflecting its commitment to education. He appealed to parents to take advantage of the high-quality education being provided free of cost by the Punjab government and enroll their children in government schools.
During the event, Kapil Jindal, Assistant Commissioner General of Kapurthala, and SDM Sultanpur Lodhi Gursharan Singh, along with other officials, visited the school and praised the cleanliness management and the beautiful architecture of the school. Head Teacher Avtar Singh Hebatpur welcomed and thanked all the guests.
