Three-Day Pulse Polio Round to Begin on December 8

A meeting regarding the upcoming Pulse Polio Round was held on Thursday under the leadership of Senior Medical Officer (SMO) Dr. Jatinder Kaur at Block Kasel. This meeting, conducted in accordance with the directions from District Tarn Taran’s Civil Surgeon and District Immunization Officer Dr. Varinder Pal Kaur, was attended by supervisors and vaccinators. Nodal Officer Dr. Vikasdeep and Block Extension Educator Naveen Kalia were also present at the event.
Dr. Jatinder Kaur stated that the three-day Pulse Polio Round would commence on Sunday, December 8. On this day, healthcare workers will set up booths in villages to administer polio drops to children aged 0-5 years. On Monday and Tuesday, health workers will conduct a door-to-door campaign to ensure all eligible children receive the drops.
Dr. Kaur emphasized that children in high-risk areas will also be covered during the campaign. Mobile teams will visit brick kilns, slums, and temporary settlements to administer the polio drops. She urged parents to actively participate in the campaign to ensure the health and safety of their children.
Nodal Officer Dr. Vikasdeep shared that nine polio supervisors have been appointed for Block Kasel. Approximately 41 polio booths will be set up across villages in the block, in addition to one transit booth. He assured continuous monitoring of the campaign by the polio supervisors in their respective areas.

Block Educator Naveen Kalia highlighted that the mass media wing is actively promoting awareness about the Pulse Polio Round through IEC activities to maximize outreach and ensure that eligible children benefit from the campaign.
