Siblings Arrested for Stealing Jewelry from Sister’s Home

 Jagraon, 6 December  (Jaswinder Singh Dangia): Under the campaign launched by Ludhiana Rural SSP Navneet Singh Bains against thefts, the police team led by DSP Varinder Singh Khosa, SHO Amritpal Singh, SI Kirandeep Kaur, and ASI Tarsem Singh apprehended two brothers involved in stealing jewelry from their sister’s home. The case was registered at Dakha police station following a complaint by Sandeep Kaur, wife of the late Sukhwinder Singh.

DSP Varinder Singh Khosa revealed that Sandeep Kaur accused her elder brother Mandeep Singh of Kotman and her second brother Jaswant Singh, who was raised by their maternal aunt Sukhwinder Kaur in Mandiani village, of stealing the jewelry. The brothers frequently visited her home and were familiar with its layout. On November 16, 2024, she discovered that gold jewelry, including a heavy necklace, earrings, a chain with a locket, two bracelets, and pairs of earrings, were missing from her cupboard. When confronted, Mandeep Singh admitted that he and Jaswant Singh had stolen the jewelry and sold it to Garg Jewellers in Sidhwan Bet.

Upon investigating, the jeweler, identified as Kala, tried to evade questions, prompting the police to register a case. Mandeep Singh was arrested, and a pair of stolen gold earrings were recovered from him. He was produced in court and remanded to police custody for three days. Subsequently, Jaswant Singh was also arrested, and during his remand, ASI Narinder Singh recovered another pair of gold earrings. DSP Khosa assured that the absconding jeweler Kala Garg would be apprehended soon, and the

remaining stolen items would be recovered.

DSP Khosa also stated that strict measures, including increased patrolling and checkpoints, have been implemented across Dakha, Jodhan, and Sudhar police jurisdictions to prevent thefts and build public confidence.
