Congress Wins Nathana Municipal By-Election as AAP Candidate Withdraws Nomination

 Bathinda,  14 December ( Ram Singh Kalyan ) In the ongoing local elections in Punjab, Congress candidate Kulwant Singh has been elected unopposed as Municipal Councillor from Ward No. 6 of Nathana Nagar Panchayat.

Advocate Jaswinder Singh Jass shared that Kulwant Singh’s father, Sukhmander Singh, had recently passed away, leaving the seat vacant. Under the leadership of MLA Pritam Singh Kotbhai and guidance from Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, Kulwant Singh was chosen as the Congress candidate for Ward No. 6.

During the election process, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate withdrew their nomination, leading to Kulwant Singh’s uncontested victory.

MC Sarabjit Singh explained that Nathana Nagar Panchayat comprises 11 members, with five from the Congress Party, three from Shiromani Akali Dal, and three from the AAP. Earlier, through mutual cooperation, Congress and Akali Dal members had appointed Sukhmander Singh as President of the Nagar Panchayat. A similar collaboration is anticipated for selecting the new President.

In celebration of this victory, Congress leader Advocate Jaswinder Singh Jass congratulated Kulwant Singh and distributed sweets. Many Congress workers and leaders gathered to mark the occasion and expressed gratitude to Bathinda Deputy Commissioner, SDM, and district administration for their transparent handling of the nomination process.
