Shaheedi Diwas of Ninth Guru Observed with Reverence at Dasmesh School, Bilaspur
Nihal Singh Wala,6 December (P.P.) — To familiarize students with the rich and inspiring history of Sikhism, the prominent educational institution, Dasmesh Public Senior Secondary School, Bilaspur, observed the Shaheedi Diwas (Martyrdom Day) of the Ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, with utmost devotion.
As part of the event, students watched a religious film related to Sikh history and recited the Mool Mantar. In her message, Principal Mahinder Kaur Dhillon, along with Founder Principal Bhupinder Singh Dhillon, emphasized the unparalleled sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, which paved the way for humanity. Guru Sahib gave his life to uphold human rights, demonstrating that every individual should have the freedom to practice their faith. He respected all religions and advocated for a world where everyone could live in harmony, respecting each other’s beliefs.
The Dhillons stressed the need to educate contemporary society about Guru Ji’s teachings and struggles so that people across the globe can embrace a life of mutual love, goodwill, peace, and cooperation.
Vice Principal Meena Jain and teacher Pushpa Devi reflected on the extraordinary nature of Guru Ji’s sacrifice, describing it as unique in world history. They pointed out that Guru Ji laid down his life to protect the dignity of others, notably the sacred thread of Hindus, even though the First Guru, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, had rejected the ritual of wearing the thread.
Program Officer Gurcharan Singh Rama highlighted how Guru Ji’s teachings are a guiding light for today’s world, where divisions among various religious groups often
lead to conflict. Other teachers also shed light on Guru Ji’s life and his profound messages, encouraging the students to imbibe these values.
The event left a lasting impression on everyone, inspiring attendees to reflect on the ideals of tolerance, sacrifice, and universal harmony championed by Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
